These Habits Could Be Dangerous to Your Kidneys

Don’t Light Up

Most people understand that smoking is bad for your lungs and heart. But did you know it also harms your kidneys? Chronic smokers (both current and former) had a higher risk of kidney disease in a 2000 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Substance abuse produces creatinine, which damages your kidneys.

To make matters worse, this kidney damage is asymptomatic. As a result, people may be poisoning their kidneys without even realizing it. On the plus side, former smokers have less damage than current smokers. It is never too late to give up.
