One of the most important habits to cultivate for optimal health is staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water. As our bodies are made up of 60-70% water, it’s crucial to keep our water levels topped up in order to maintain optimal health. Drinking water has numerous benefits for the body, including helping to flush out toxins, regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, and protecting tissues. According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, adults should aim to consume between 2.5 and 4 liters of water per day. If you don’t enjoy the taste of plain water, try adding slices of fruit such as lemon, cucumber, or strawberry to give it some flavor. Alternatively, you could invest in a fruit-infused water bottle to make staying hydrated more enjoyable.
