Bananas

Because it provides instant energy and a serving of healthy vitamins and minerals, the humble banana is a favorite among runners and gym attendees. Can eating bananas benefit our mental health as well, though?

As it turns out, they certainly could! Vitamin B6, which the body needs to produce and use serotonin, is abundant in bananas. Serotonin is one of our feel-good hormones, and higher levels mean we’re less likely to experience low moods or struggle with depressive symptoms.
Eat a banana “naked” as it is or blend one with blueberries, pea milk, peanut butter, and hemp powder in a morning smoothie for a protein-rich start to the day. They taste fantastic on brown bread when they are cut up and combined with your favorite nut butter.
