Walk your way to ultra-toned legs
Walking involves the entire body, as you should walk with your abdominal muscles drawn in for a tighter core, your head held in a neutral position, your shoulders relaxed and down, and your arms bent at the elbows to drive you along rather than swinging by your sides.
But, predictably, it benefits our legs the most, and the more we walk and the faster we walk, the better. Furthermore, the more we walk uphill, up flights of stairs, or on uneven terrain, the better. Walking on a sandy beach will also provide our leg muscles with a good workout. (However, if you’re a little unstable on your feet, it’s still important to stick to flat terrain at a pace that you’re comfortable with.)
If you want to tone your legs even more, perform some squats and lunges as a warm-up before each walk, or use a cross trainer or stepper at the gym (or your home gym, or sprint up and down your own stairs if you are next-door neighbor doesn’t mind!)
