6-Fear of intimacy
True love can challenge and disrupt the negative beliefs and defense mechanisms that we have developed since childhood to protect ourselves from emotional pain. These beliefs and behaviors may manifest in the form of irrational fears about becoming close to someone we like, or by punishing a loved one through criticism or bad behavior. In reality, many of us can only handle a certain level of intimacy and may not actually want the love that we say we desire. This can be a difficult realization, but understanding these patterns can help us work towards building healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
