7-Unhealthy attractions

It’s common for people to make less-than-ideal relationship choices based on unconscious defenses and patterns. This can lead us to seek out partners who are emotionally unavailable or to cling to relationships that have little potential, even if they reinforce negative self-perceptions. These choices can be driven by a subconscious fear of intimacy and a desire to replay negative aspects of our childhoods.
However, breaking out of these patterns can be difficult and may cause anxiety and discomfort. It’s important to be aware of these patterns and to work on overcoming them in order to have more fulfilling and healthy relationships. It may also be helpful to seek support from a therapist or other trusted individuals to help navigate these challenges.
