There’s nothing wrong with coworkers developing stronger relationships with some colleagues than others; that’s how human socialization works. On the other hand, if one group tends to make everyone else feel alienated, the office climate is almost certainly toxic. When these groups operate like a clique, they are more likely to disseminate gossip or negativity that drives everyone else down.
