The last house on the Dutch island

The island of Dutch is a rapidly disintegrating island in Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. The island was previously home to fishermen and farmers, but no one lives there today. The mansion was erected in 1888 and has spent the last century battling the receding shoreline. Despite the efforts of its previous owner, Stephen White, he was defeated by nature, and neither the mansion nor the island could be salvaged.
