Another Reddit user shared a story about how she and her husband were able to semi-retire in their mid-40s by living frugally, putting a significant portion of their income into investment accounts, living in a studio apartment, and foregoing cars. They now live primarily on the interest earned by their fortune, as well as flexible freelancing jobs that they may pick and choose at their leisure. It did necessitate that they postpone having children until they were financially secure, but the fact that they could devote 100% of their lives to raising kids made the wait worthwhile.
