6- The Mystery of the USS Cyclops’ Disappearance
The USS Cyclops, one of the largest US Navy cargo ships at the time, simply vanished while traveling from the West Indies to Baltimore in March 1918. The ship, carrying a crew of 236 officers and enlisted personnel, as well as roughly 70 passengers, and a valuable cargo of sweet, sweet manganese ore, was last observed off the coast of Virginia, but failed attempts to uncover wreckage or debris have left a lot of people scratching their heads.
Is it thought to have been sunk by a German raider or submarine? For what it’s worth, they denied it at the time, and no subsequent evidence has ever pointed to our WWI adversaries as the perpetrators. The most likely explanations appear to be structural breakdown or weather conditions. But, if Reddit users are to be believed, they ventured into the Bermuda Triangle and were zapped into another realm where the pop music is presumably far superior to what we have to listen to in our own version of reality.
