Chest Pain

Chest discomfort is one of the most worrying symptoms for RA patients. However, this symptom is not usually indicative of cardiac disease. Instead, RA chest discomfort is typically caused by costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage in the chest. While chest pain might be frightening, RA sufferers should be aware that the reason for their symptoms is rarely serious. Still, if your chest pain is accompanied by shortness of breath, it could indicate that your RA is damaging your lungs or heart.
