High-fructose corn syrup is bad for your health, and numerous studies have found a link between this component and a variety of dangerous illnesses such as obesity, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
Because it is so inexpensive to produce, high-fructose syrup is used in a wide range of products, including soft drinks, salad dressing, and cereal. High-fructose corn syrup, which is made from corn starch, is a sweetener with a sweetness level equal to sucralose. It was first introduced in the 1950s, but it wasn’t widely employed in products until the 1970s when it was discovered to be a more cost-effective alternative to sugar.
However, this ingredient is not a good substitute for sugary foods, and many studies indicate that it is likely far worse. Research at Princeton University revealed that high-fructose corn syrup caused more weight gain than sucrose! It’s preferable to avoid goods containing high-fructose syrup as much as possible, as it provides no real benefits and may induce a variety of side effects.
