Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca city located in Peru’s Andes Mountains. It is regarded as one of the world’s most magnificent archaeological sites and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
Machu Picchu’s ruins were erected in the 15th century and are located on a mountain ridge above the Sacred Valley. During the Spanish invasion, the site was abandoned and remained buried until 1911, when it was found by Hiram Bingham.
