When You Stay Up Late, Your Kidney Overworks
Researchers from the University of Chicago discovered a relationship between poor sleep and an increased risk of renal disease in 2016. Participants who slept for 6.5 hours each night had a 19% increased risk of renal failure. The reason for this is that your sleeping pattern instructs your kidneys on when to work and when to relax.
According to National Kidney Foundation researchers, when you stay up late, your kidneys continue to work hard. Chronic sleep disruption might tire down these organs over time. Keep in mind that you require between seven and nine hours of sleep per night.
